Church Ope Cove

Small, but very pretty pebble beach on the Isle of Portland near Weymouth surrounded by cliffs on three sides which provide shelter from the often strong breeze in the area and the  beach huts. However, these are privately owned and are not usually available for rent. As the beach faces south, it is also something of a sun trap throughout the day. Relaxing on the beach is a great way to spend an afternoon.
For me the road to the beach is the best part of Church Ope Cove. It's quite a walk down with a flight of steep steps which may be difficult for small children or less able people, but it certainly opens the most amazing views all around.
